The Full Employment Vertical of Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan successfully organized an engaging lecture on “Employment: Role of Entrepreneurship in India”. Prof. Kumar, leveraging his expertise from JNU and Stanford, delivered a compelling discourse on the evolving employment landscape in India, underscoring entrepreneurship as a vital response to contemporary challenges.
Prof. Kumar highlighted how technological advancements, artificial intelligence, disinvestment in public sector undertakings (PSUs), and the proliferation of gig-based work are reshaping traditional employment patterns. He noted a marked decline in permanent jobs, positioning self-employment and entrepreneurship as indispensable for achieving full employment and India’s ambitious goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. The speaker elaborated on the explosive growth of India’s startup ecosystem, citing key concepts such as Minimum Viable Product (MVP), navigating early-stage hurdles, harnessing digital opportunities, and accessing diverse funding sources. A central theme was overcoming the fear of failure, identified as the primary barrier deterring aspiring entrepreneurs. Real world examples like Kalpana Saroj’s rags-to-riches journey and innovative startups such as Physics Wallah (PW) and Lenskart illustrated the power of spotting market gaps and persisting through adversity.
The lecture also covered government initiatives supporting startups, global entrepreneurial trends, and the strategic edges startups hold over conventional businesses, including agility and innovation. Prof. Kumar inspired the audience with the mantra: “Start small, think big”, “Swadeshi ka Utkarsh”, “Jai Bharat Varsh,” aligning perfectly with Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan’s mission of indigenous economic empowerment. The session transitioned into an interactive Q&A, fostering dynamic discussions on practical implementation.
Concluding the core program, CA Anil Kumar Sarma offered valuable insights on bridging the gap between educational skills and commercial acumen, while emphasizing Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan’s ongoing efforts in employment generation and entrepreneurship development. Prof. Nandini delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, appreciating the speaker’s profound contributions and the participants’ enthusiasm. The event, held offline with mandatory registration, reinforced Swadeshi’s commitment to promoting self-reliant models of employment, equipping attendees with actionable strategies amid India’s transformative economic phase. Overall, it served as a clarion call for youth to embrace entrepreneurship as a pathway to personal and national prosperity.
