Celebration of entrepreneurs ‘Day at SDNB Vaishnav college for Women situated in Chromepet Chennai
Swadeshi Shodh Sansthan Tamilnadu Chapter had organised for the above event.
Miss Mythili Parthasarathy, Mr M S Balasubramaniam, Mr Koushik Ramani, and Mr Vaidyanathan Chandramouli represented
SSS TN chapter.
Prior to the commencement of the event, Asst Professor Madam Harini who oversees the Institution’s Innovation council
took the members for a visit of their business units.
The college has a baking unit, jute products unit, sanitary napkin unit and e seva centre.
These units are run by the students and the college.
Apart from the above ventures college encourages other entrepreneurs who make handicrafts by allowing them to set up a stall monthly once.
There are 40 students actively engaged in different ventures.
The event started with a song invoking blessings of Lord Krishna.
Asst Professor and Head of IIC delivered the welcome speech.
Thiru M S Balasubramaniam Deputy chairman Ministry of Education Investor committee and Chairman of IIIT Sricity
addressed the students on behalf of SSS TN chapter.
He appreciated the commitment and the interest shown by the management towards IIC and its initiatives.
As he represents academia, Industry and The Government he spoke about the initiatives of the Govt of India towards entrepreneurship and startups and about Viksit Bharath.
He said there are nearly 46 schemes under which grants are available.
He told the students that they are the beneficiaries of Viksit Bharath.
During his speech he said funding and technology are not the major issues.
He said if there is an idea and passion a student can become an entrepreneur.
He asked the management to open COE and conduct Hackathon and said Hackathon can be conducted for non-technical ideas too.
He advised the students to make use of the facilities and infrastructure provided by the college.
Dr Uma Maheshwari CEO of TN -RISE Women Startup Council, the chief guest of the event spoke about the Startup ecosystem in Tamil Nadu.
She advised the management to utilise the benefits for rural entrepreneurship given by the Govt of Tamil Nadu as the college jurisdiction comes under rural area.
She also praised the initiatives of the Management and quoted some successful ventures for their innovation.
She said Tamil Nadu Govt has set up separate organisations to cater to the different needs for developing startup ecosystem like skill development, marketing and funding etc.
She touched upon social entrepreneurship and circular economy.
