With over 25 years of legal expertise, Gagan Kumar is a highly accomplished professional renowned for his strategic insight and deep knowledge of tax, corporate, and commercial law. He is a member of the Bar Council of Delhi, a qualified Chartered Accountant, and a graduate in Commerce from Delhi University. Before founding Krishnomics Legal, Gagan served as a Principal Associate at Amarchand & Mangaldas (now Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas) and as a Manager at KPMG, honing his expertise in high-stakes legal and financial matters.

Gagan specializes in tax and commercial litigation, where he has consistently represented corporate entities before prestigious judicial forums, including the Supreme Court, High Courts, Tax Tribunals, and other forums. His role as Senior Panel Counsel for the Union of India at the Delhi High Court reflects his significant stature in the legal field. Gagan is also the author of two authoritative books on Tax Prosecutions and Search and Seizure under the Income Tax Act.

A recognized thought leader, Gagan frequently writes insightful articles on tax and contemporary legal issues. His commentary is widely published in national and international journals, providing valuable perspectives on the evolving legal landscape. He also shares his insights across professional forums and TV channels, engaging in discussions on contemporary legal topics. Gagan has appeared as an expert witness at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague, further extending his global reach and influence.

His clients include a broad spectrum of domestic and international corporations, private equity funds, and non-profit organizations, for whom he provides expert counsel on corporate tax, transfer pricing, GST, customs, and regulatory matters.

Gagan’s legal excellence has earned him multiple accolades, including being named Tax Controversy Leader by the International Tax Review for eight consecutive years since 2013. He was also recognized as India’s Leading Corporate Tax Lawyer by The International Who’s Who Legal in 2012.

Outside of his legal practice, Gagan serves on the boards of several companies as an Independent Director and is an active Rotarian, having served as the President of one of the prominent Rotary Clubs in Delhi. He is also a past president of the Indian Lawyers Association.
