Bangladesh is unlikely to send a representative to the BRICS Summit to be held in New Delhi on September 12 and 13, diplomatic sources said.
India has invited Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to attend the summit in his capacity as chair of the Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC). The invitation is separate from an earlier bilateral invitation extended to Rahman to visit India.
Dhaka has yet to confirm Rahman’s participation. However, diplomatic sources indicated that Bangladesh may ultimately choose not to send a representative to the summit.
