Tracing the nation’s journey from its ancient economic brilliance to its present-day aspirations for global leadership, he highlighted how Bharat’s legacy of trade, agriculture, and skilled craftsmanship has evolved through the years.
He reflected on the country’s resilience—shaped by decades of economic reforms, technological progress, and global collaborations. As Bharat moves towards its centenary of independence in 2047, Prof. Singh envisioned a nation that is economically robust, digitally advanced, and socially inclusive. He underscored the importance of sustainable growth, harnessing youth potential, and fostering a self-reliant economy, positioning Bharat not just as a participant but as a leader in the global arena.
Speaker: Sh. Shivraj Singh Chouhan (Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare of India)
Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji, stated that Bharat continues to be prosperous. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a mission is underway to build a glorious and powerful Bharat. Today, the country has overflowing granaries. Despite rising temperatures and environmental imbalance, Bharat is leading in food production and is even supplying food to other nations.
Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ji emphasized that to increase production, good quality seeds are essential, and ICAR is working in this direction. Saving water is crucial, and paddy farming is being adapted to use less water. He highlighted the need for modern agricultural methods that promote more irrigation with less water. To reduce production costs, the use of advanced seeds is vital. The Minimum Support Price (MSP) system has been implemented to ensure fair returns for farmers. Efforts are underway to make farmers prosperous.
He raised concern over the excessive use of pesticides, which is reducing soil fertility, causing health issues in humans, polluting rivers, and endangering animals and birds. He emphasized the need for natural farming and shared that 1.875 million people are being trained in this method. Roads are being built to connect villages to boost rural development. There is a need to work with the vision of poverty-free families. Inclusive development, rooted in humane values, is essential. He advised that nature should be utilized, not exploited. We must take from the earth only what can be replenished. For us, trees, plants, cows, and animals are like mothers. Tulsi, Banyan, and rivers are our sacred mothers. We must protect nature.
Shri Chouhan concluded by stating that Bharat is soon to become the world’s third-largest economy. Everyone must work with strength and capacity toward building the nation, fulfilling the vision of a developed Bharat. He said, “Bharat was great, Bharat is great, and Bharat will remain great.”
